Singapore’s sustainable aviation fuel market is moving beyond policy and into commercial project development.
 
Aether Fuels and Aster Chemicals & Energy have won the 2026 Singapore International Chamber of Commerce Award for Most Sustainable Collaboration for their work on Project Beacon.
 
Planned for Aster’s Pulau Bukom site in Singapore, Project Beacon will use Aether’s Aurora™ technology to convert industrial waste gas and biomethane into CORSIA-certified SAF.
 
The project is expected to produce approximately 2,000 tonnes of SAF annually from 2028, with lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions expected to be more than 70% lower than conventional jet fuel.
 
Why does this matter?
 
The project highlights an emerging pathway for ASEAN’s bioenergy sector: turning waste carbon and biomethane into higher-value sustainable fuels.
 
It also shows how technology providers, industrial infrastructure and feedstock suppliers can work together to build a scalable SAF supply chain.
 
With Singapore strengthening its SAF policy framework and new commercial projects emerging, SAF could become an increasingly important growth area for Southeast Asia’s biomass, biogas and renewable-fuel industries.
