Thailand Opens Up the Green Power Market
Date:2026-09-02
Thailand has removed the previous 2,000 MW cap on direct renewable power trading, allowing industries beyond data centres to purchase clean electricity directly from renewable energy producers through a Third Party Access (TPA) framework.
Why does this matter?
The policy could accelerate private investment in renewable power, strengthen demand for clean-energy technologies, and give energy-intensive industries greater access to low-carbon electricity. It also signals Thailand’s broader shift toward a more flexible and market-oriented energy system.
For the biomass sector, this creates another potential growth window. Biomass can provide stable, dispatchable renewable power alongside solar and wind, while also supporting Thailand’s energy security and agricultural-resource utilization. Thailand’s energy strategy has specifically identified biomass as part of its clean-energy transition.
This is exactly why ABEE 2027 matters.
ASEAN Biomass Energy Expo 2027 will bring together biomass producers, technology providers, project developers, investors and energy companies to explore new opportunities across Thailand and the wider ASEAN renewable-energy market.
If you are looking to enter or expand in the ASEAN biomass market, ABEE 2027 is a platform worth being part of.
