Philippines Taps Wood Waste for Biomass Power Development

Date:2026-08-21

The Philippines is exploring new opportunities in bioenergy by converting forestry residues into a reliable source of renewable power.

A proposed 50 MW biomass gasification power plant in Agusan del Sur will utilize wood processing waste, such as sawdust and wood by-products, to generate electricity while reducing waste and supporting regional energy stability.

This development hightlights the growing role of biomass in ASEAN, where agricultural and foresty residues are becoming valuable resources for clean energy generation and circular economy development.

The growth of biomass projects across Southeast Asia is creating new opportunities for technology providers, project developers, and investors in renewable energy.

ASEAN Biomass & Energy Expo (ABEE) 2027 will connect industry leaders to explore the latest solutions in biomass utilization, waste-to-energy, renewable fuels, and sustainable energy development.
