25GWh Energy Storage Mega Deal in Europe: NatPower Partners with Tesla on Large-Scale BESS Deployment

Date:2026-06-30

Recently, NatPower has officially entered into a long-term strategic agreement with Tesla to jointly develop large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the United Kingdom and Italy.

The initial phase of the collaboration exceeds 25GWh, covering a full lifecycle solution including energy storage system supply, EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction), and AI-driven energy trading through the Autobidder platform.

The total investment for the project is estimated at USD 4–5 billion.

This partnership is widely seen as a significant milestone for the energy storage industry, marking a transition from standalone equipment delivery toward integrated energy system operation.

Accelerating Growth in the European Energy Storage Market

The United Kingdom and Italy, as two core European energy storage markets, are rapidly expanding grid-scale battery deployment to address renewable energy variability and enhance grid stability.

The project is expected to generate more than USD 15 billion in total lifetime revenue over a 20-year operating period, further highlighting the financial value and long-term investment attractiveness of energy storage assets.

Industry Trend: From Equipment Supply to System Platforms

As competition in the energy storage sector intensifies, the industry is shifting from price-based competition toward capability-driven competition, including:

  • AI-based energy dispatch and optimization
  • Full lifecycle asset management capabilities
  • Bankable financing structures and project de-risking

Through its integrated Megapack + Autobidder + EPC model, Tesla continues to strengthen its position as a leading provider of end-to-end energy storage solutions.

Industry Link: ASEE 2027

Against the backdrop of rapid global energy transition, the Asian market is also entering a critical growth phase.
