In emerging markets, biomass energy is being redefined as one of the most practical and scalable solutions for real-world energy transition.
Guna Raj Dhakal, Founder Chairperson of Renewable Energy Confederation of Nepal (RECON) and Official Advisory Representative of ABEE, highly recognized the value of the platform during his participation at ABEE 2026 – ASEAN Biomass Energy Expo, and shared his insights:
Biomass is at the forefront of transforming forest and agricultural resources into real economic value.
Replacing coal, diesel, and LPG with biomass pellets can significantly reduce costs and import dependency.
A phased biofuel blending strategy is key to long-term industrial decarbonization.
This momentum is not limited to Nepal — it is increasingly visible across ASEAN.
In Southeast Asia, industries such as food processing, palm oil, and manufacturing rely heavily on thermal energy systems.
Biomass stands out as one of the most feasible and cost-effective alternatives for immediate transition.
At the same time, biomass delivers a unique dual advantage:
-Energy generation
-Waste-to-resource solution
With policy support and rising energy costs, localized biomass fuels are showing clear economic advantages over diesel and LPG.
Biomass remains underestimated — while its commercial potential continues to accelerate.
