Japanese renewables firm Erex has announced the commencement of operations at its 20 MW biomass plant in Vietnam.
Located in the Hau Giang province, this facility marks Erex's first biomass plant in the country.
It will utilise around 130,000 t/yr of rice husks as feedstock, with the generated electricity to be sold under Vietnam's feed-in tariff (FiT) scheme.
As well as this site, the company intends to construct up to 18 additional biomass plants in Vietnam - with two further 50 MW plants currently in construction in the north of the country.These plants, which will burn wood residues, are expected to be operational by mid-2027.
Additionally, Erex is developing wood pellet factories in South East Asia - with up to 20 to be built in Vietnam.

โรงไฟฟ้าชีวมวลแห่งแรกของ Erex ในเวียดนามเริ่มดำเนินงานแล้ว
บริษัทพลังงานหมุนเวียนจากญี่ปุ่น Erex ได้ประกาศว่าโรงไฟฟ้าชีวมวลขนาด 20 เมกะวัตต์ ในจังหวัดฮ่าวซาง (Hau Giang) ประเทศเวียดนาม ได้เริ่มดำเนินการแล้ว
โรงงานแห่งนี้นับเป็นโครงการชีวมวลแห่งแรกของ Erex ในเวียดนาม และจะใช้ แกลบข้าว (เปลือกข้าว) ประมาณ 130,000 ตันต่อปี เป็นเชื้อเพลิง
ไฟฟ้าที่ผลิตได้จะขายภายใต้ โครงการรับซื้อไฟฟ้าตามอัตรารับประกัน (FiT) ของรัฐบาลเวียดนาม
นอกจากโรงงานนี้แล้ว Erex ยังมีแผนสร้างโรงไฟฟ้าชีวมวลเพิ่มเติมอีกสูงสุด 18 แห่งในเวียดนาม
ขณะนี้กำลังก่อสร้างโรงไฟฟ้าขนาด 50 เมกะวัตต์อีก 2 แห่งในภาคเหนือของเวียดนาม ซึ่งใช้เศษไม้เป็นเชื้อเพลิง และคาดว่าจะแล้วเสร็จและเริ่มดำเนินงานภายใน กลางปี 2027
นอกจากนี้ บริษัทยังอยู่ระหว่างการพัฒนา โรงงานผลิตเม็ดเชื้อเพลิงไม้ (wood pellet) ในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ โดยมีแผนสร้างสูงสุด 20 แห่งในเวียดนาม
